The barista is the tenth fastest growing job in Australia and with over 40,000 baristas in the country, it was time to create a day dedicated to celebrating the people behind the beans.
Created on behalf of client, Almond Breeze Barista Blend, National Barista Day celebrated our ‘bartenders of the morning’ and encouraged all Australians to shout out their favourite barista by voting.
Over 2,000 nominations flowed in and the phenomenal social media response saw a 2,175% increase in traffic to the Almond Breeze website.
The worthy winner crowned Australia’s Barista of Choice was the gorgeous Celeste Norris of Good 2 Go café in Melbourne, which helps unemployed youth gain access to work experience and skills.
Celeste took home a cash prize and the nominations were judged by an industry panel including Aga Rowjewska, the 2018 world barista champion.
Even more thrilling, as a direct result of the campaign, National Barista Day has now been registered as an ‘official day’ and with calls from around the globe for an ’International Barista Day’ in 2020, it is now seen as Australia’s responsibility to continue to lead the coffee charge around the world.
